More than 30 percent of of Rent.com’s 3 million monthly visits come from mobile devices. Rent.com was one of the first companies to build a large scale responsive design website. We partnered with The Filament Group to create a significantly better site usable on desktops, laptops, smartphones, and tablets.
We created a user persona based on User Segments Research, Focus Groups and an Online Rental Market Study. With The Filament Group (via Basecamp), basic styles were created for key landing/search pages. Moving at a fast pace, wireframes were created as initial style coding began. As we finished I designed the last remaining and most important page, our landing page. With the launch we saw significant increase, the most notable being 15% increase desktop leads, and 40% in mobile leads.
To support the launch of their new Blog, Rent.com ran several social media sweepstakes on Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest. Our most sucessful sweepstakes was our Animal House Dyson Give Away. Working with our head of Marketing, we created 12 themes/sweepstakes for each month of the year. Few of my favorites:
• The Perfect First Date Sweepstakes (Twitter)
• Show Your City (Facebook)
• #MoveInMeal (Twitter)
With no resources for development, I vetted several social marketing platforms. I found Votigo.com to be perfect for our needs. I first created the layouts in Illustrator/Photoshop, then built page with Dreamweaver and brought code into Votigo. This allowed us to launch an online campaign with emails immediately after completion. The results from the new campaigns increased Blog traffic significantly.
Fun marketing material to support the Toyota/The Tire Center $50 Gas Giveaway. The display is die cut and includes entry forms, which can be torn off to fill out. Additional a front/back flyer with key dates that further explains the promotion to dealers. Finally a promo window poster was created for The Tire Center.
